Would you folks be interested in a community wiki?

We've recently been discussing the prospects of kicking one off. In addition to aggregating the information regarding Amalur and 38 Studios, I thought it might make for a proper repository for all of the community specific discussion that goes on here.

We could have separate pages for, say, Agra's influence system or book club archives --whatever you decide to be wiki-worthy.

It would also be a a nice way to archive, sort and reference all of the details that we will begin to see over the coming weeks and months.

Let us know what you think!

Here is an example of a neat community-specific wiki:

AIE Wiki (http://wiki.aie-guild.org/index.php?title=Main_Page)

I have never worked on a "wiki" specifically, but I like the idea.

I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks.[hr]
Also, doing something like a Wiki to go along with our forum has the potential to make us the "go to" site for 38 Studios games.

I like that idea. :coolmunch:

If there are more folks interested in such a thing, sure, why not?

You know I'm all in!

Heck, I'd like it just to have a page where we could have a permanent repository of "good ideas" that MMO developers (*cough*) could consider and use.

Even just to have a place where we have community-consensus storage regarding definitions, terms, and common MMO concepts and ideas. That alone would make it worthwhile.
And it would give me a reason to complete/update my "influence system" and "insulation system" ideas... mmmm :ideamunch:

It can wait though, no panic. At the moment, I think we'd have a pretty skinny zombie's worth of content, more than a skeleton, but nowhere near a golems worth.

I think a Wiki is a good idea. We need to realize that if we do have a Wiki that's a good repository it increases the chances Union will eventually see a gimungous offer for the site if Copernicus is as popular as they want it to be.

This isn't a slight on Union or his intentions either. I wouldn't fault any new college graduate that accepted a multi-million dollar offer on what was essentially a money-draining hobby at one point.

Depends on who the offer is from. :-|

Haha. I'm not angling for any multi-million dollar offers - just trying to add value to the community. (But if you know someone...)

I think it's a great idea to kick start now while things are still small and somewhat slow. I love wikis and have worked on several smallish ones in the past so I would be happy to lend whatever help I can in getting this going.

Narria's point is good. Best to start now while things are still quiet than wait for things to explode and play catch up. I also had to chuckle at Buuncha's post.

Maybe we can get Lilie to provide some screenshots to put on the wiki. Id be willing to put some time into this. I have plenty of it currently.

I have a proposal.

We forbid discussion of "THE EVENT" on the Wiki. It was a dark period of Watch History and should be forgotten!

Ha! I'm all for that.

Never worked on a wiki, but would be cool to have one going when information gets flowing.

What kind of screenshots were you thinking? As of now I believe the only Reckoning shots we have are the ones 38 have given us and posted to their site.

With every opportunity I have to take video/photos/audio of 38 activity, both in-game and out, I will do so!

I am all behind this. I've done similar projects via forum posts for other games in order to help my guild mates out when I couldn't find any decent information or guides. Since I've been following this project since 2006, I've saved as much information as I could find about it. Granted, it's not a lot since there has not been a lot revealed, but I'm happy to help with what I have now as well as provide ongoing support for it. I think that having a place to refer to for information is very important.

I'm happy to help any way I can. I've been watching for all news about Copernicus since Green Monster Games was announced, and am excited about Kingdoms as well.

Brilliant, guys. I'm excited to see that people are into this idea. I'm even more excited that some of you have previous wiki management experience, because it is definitely not my area of expertise (although I do know enough about writing and web design to make myself a quick study). I am balancing this project with the forum redesign, and I hope to have both ready, asap. If possible, I'd like to have this all installed well-before the imminent information uptick.

Well there is the, what is known thread, that I started that could be mined and used as a start. A wiki is good just so long as the info is out there for all and that its accurate, not full of rumor or hype, just what is!

Yea, good point, bcpm. Maybe we could make a policy to always have hard links to back up information on the wiki? This would help avoid rumor/speculation.
