Thumbs up on the appearance Union, it looks great.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what new things you pop up. :)

I guess you took away custom avatars again? :P No big deal really. though I do want to point out that people who want to change how forums are displayed should look at their settings page. I like seeing every thread ever personally so I adjusted it away from the Forum Default.

EDIT:

Something weird keeps happening where I am being logged out when I go to the front page with site news. I get this:

35

Yep.

I believe that issue has been resolved. Let me know if you are still having problems.

And custom avatars should be enabled for all founding members and supporters now. That was an oversight on my part. I'd imagine there will be a few kinks that need to be ironed out. Just let me know if you experience any more functionality issues and I will make sure they are taken care of.

Also, the layout will be changing a bit, as I continue to chew on this software. Just a heads up.

edit: there is still a bit of strangeness with the login. I'm working on it.

Sweet, thanks for the updates. I'm gonna tinker a bit here and there and if I run into any more wonkiness, I'll let you know.

edit: Doh, just noticed that under Users Online it shows this:

There are currently 14 users online. 2 members and 12 guests
Most users ever online was 32, Today at 05:12 PM.
Array

Not sure what the Array part is as I don't see any users named that. I assume it means an array of usernames to put there.

Fantastic stuff! Super excited :).

I've only noticed two things so far:

1.) When logging in via the text on the input at the top of the page, the text is black on dark grey. It's super hard to read.

2.) I'm wondering if there is anything to be done about the way the user name, title, and supporter badge are aligned. On a user like Nybling or myself it kind of looks a little weird. I don't know...might not be worth tinkering with.

Ah, I noticed that too Lilie, but I didn't know if that was incorrect or perhaps a feature of the overall forum theme. It does appear that the name and usergroup name text are centered over the Supporter badge.

Found another-

For some reason, when I'm logged in I can't go back to the front page of the site (news page). It says I don't "have permissions".

Nybling
02-20-2011, 05:41 PM
I noticed that too.

I also can't directly go to something like: http://www.38watch.com/content.php?126-Welcome-to-the-New-Watch!

As it tells me that I lack permissions.

edit:

What's interesting to me is if I search by posts done in the last 24 hours, I can get to this: http://www.38watch.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?3-vBCms-Comments -- which lets me access that Welcome to the New Watch! post in a rather roundabout way.

I've resolved the permissions issue. I will have a chance to address your aesthetic concerns a bit later tonight.

Now it lets me view the front page, but when I do go there it says I'm logged out and gives me that error message that I put up earlier in the thread. :/

Which browser are you using?

Also, have you tried clearing your cookies for this site?

This site looks very good Union , My apologies in not helping as much as i would like but times are very tough for us right now and i cant justify the expenditure as i have no funds that even remotely resemble discretionary at this time !

I will though try to make something and send it to you so you might be able to auction and get something for it . It would be this site and or 38 studios related fan art and would be a carving of some kind haven't decided just yet what.

let me know if your interested in that for a fund raiser type thing!

I use Chrome, and I cleared out everything.

finally took 3 tries to log in ...

site skins and some form of chat room are coming i take it?

Nybling

Eh, I don't know about a chatroom, but I think it's safe to presume Union is still fiddling around with the overall design of the site. I really do like the postbit being on the left though, it looks more snazzy I think.

Does the board feel a bit narrow to anyone else? I could just be sitting at my computer for a bit too long this evening.

Wouldn't let me log on for a while, until I checked the "Remember me" button. Otherwise it just automatically logs me out.
Not a huge problem, but a slight irritant.

To respond to the narrow board thing, it feels a teeny bit too narrow to me, too. I could adjust, but first thoughts are could be a bit wider, yes.

I'm looking into the login issues, Laraden. Thanks.

And I do not currently have any plans to make the board any wider, Lilie. Sorry. I am mostly looking for actual functionality issues, at this point.

No worries, Union!

I actually like the size of it. It just feels right with the Amalur-styled background.

Anyway -- I did want to point out that threads remain to be bolded as if I haven't read them even when I have. I have to click the Mark All Forums Read thingy at the bottom of the forum index. Just wanted to point that out.

edit: I just noticed that on Lilie's postbit, the Blog Entries line is just plain text unlike the Join Date/Location/Posts and makes it look a little off.

I've noticed this. I will read an unread thread, then return to the index and it will still be labeled as unread. If I click through it again and return to the index a second time, it will display properly. Not sure why it seems to be doing that.

Very nice site. It does just what I need it to do. Was wondering one thing tho. Will there be a "Dev Tracker" added at some point. If it already exists I didn't see it.

Union

Yes, rafla. It is definitely one of my top priorities.

I think the question we're all dying to find out is: Is this Chapter 3? :P
