    Thumbs up The Steam Thread

If folks want to post their Steam IDs here, they can.

But in general, I dedicate this thread to all things Steam specifically sales. There's been a pretty good sale the past few days and for the next couple of days. I just got Mass Effect 2 for $7. People might be shocked that I hadn't gotten it earlier, but I played through my roommates copy before, and at $7, I'm definitely not against purchasing my own!

Looking forward to what they post up today and Sunday!

I dont like Steam, I bought a game once and found out I could not play it offline without jumping thru hoops, what made me mad the most was that I couldnt play it online without Steam client loading everytime. Then I read it privacy policy and uninstalled Steam and the game, that was 5 years ago. Nice deals on Steam tho but I dont like someone else controlling my games so much.

I'm with you, DtG. Steam annoys me because I can't get into the games without going through the Steam service. Just yesterday my internet service went down for about 5 hours...no idea why...and I couldn't play a Steam game (Civ) because I couldn't get online.

A few months ago, I set it up so that Civ 5 could be opened from my desktop, but on the next Steam update they "fixed" that for me and I couldn't open the game that way anymore. Really annoying.

That being said, I still play Civ 5 sometimes through Steam because I have a couple of friends that do and that is the easiest way we can play mutiplayer. But that's really the only game I have on there anymore.

Well, that's a Civ 5 problem as it uses the Steam Cloud service, and I think even boxed versions have it working with Steam (I could be wrong as I have the Steam version).

I get why some people have issues with Steam, but out of out of the downloading services I find it to be the best.

Well, I dunno about how all that stuff works, or why, with the cloud service and all that, I just know it was annoying.
However, I will say that Steam is handy and convenient. And, of all the downloading services, it does seem to be the best. And, they seem to have good deals. And, it helps me keep track of my friends.
Steam isn't ALL bad, I guess, I might just be a little bit of a control freak when it comes to my games...

If any of you guys ever had any interest in the game Magicka, the complete pack is on Steam this weekend for $6.24. Just bought one for my brother.
