I felt like Robin Hood was okay...up until near the end where it suddenly seemed that they cut out about forty-five minutes of story and just skipped to an ending. Really seemed like it got too long or they ran out of money and they just gave up.

Before that point, I was thinking that it at least had a bit of potential...I was watching with the expectation that it was going to all tie up well and be a reasonable movie. Then I just had to throw up my hands and go "WTF!?" as they just totally dropped the ball. They did massive, lagging buildup and then no real climax, just an actiony sequence and then a Cliffs Notes ending.

Almost like they spent an hour and a half on the prologue, skipped what would have been the interesting buildup of tension and character development, made a quick heroic ending, and called it a day.

Yeah I have to agree that the two battles towards the end were pretty anticlimactic, it was missing a feeling of adventure for me but I enjoyed the acting for the most part.

it has a great cast

I suppose I should go to IMDB before saying this but ... just from watching the first video ... I recognize ONE PERSON. Not really sure I can agree with you on it having a great cast based on that.

Well in my opinion it does, Charlize Theron (Monster), Michael Fassbender (X-Men First Class), Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) just to name a few.

Might want to check the history of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo franchise Darksend, specifically films.

I agree that they are two different films. I prefer Alien, it was remarkable, to say the least.
Don't have an opinion on Scott's recent record, although I must say I will watch anything with Cate Blanchett
in it. If you haven't seen the Duelists, his first full-length movie, two years before Alien, you really should give it a try.
