The TES theme coming in towards the end is always cool. Man, I love how TES has such an iconic song now. Sadly, none of the tracks in Reckoning grabbed me as something that awesome.
I think it's probably because Grant composed the Reckoning theme instead of the Kingdoms of Amalur theme. I still think he did a good job, but there was nothing that said "THIS is the song we'll be hearing for the next 20 years." like the EQ theme, or Final Fantasy, or Elder Scrolls.

    I mean, seriously:

There's nothing like that in Reckoning.

Looking over some of the features on NeoGaf it's hit or miss for me, no player housing, balanced PvP for esports, I do like the focus on non-instanced dungeons though.

The lack of skill-based character builds and classes as well is causing some issues with it for me already since TES has always been about freedom to me. True, there's the world lore, but it was not really established outside of the games When I picked it up and it is not what got me to play the games in the first place.

The stamina mechanics may make for some different combat mechanics, but we'll see.

just in case anyone's interested, a 20 min interview with one of the dev's of ESO http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featur...-director.aspx

So my roomie's Game Informer came in for this month, and I just read over the TESO article.

    Wow.

    I'm very much impressed.

Yes, there's a hotbar, but instead of having ability bloat like Rift or EQ2, they want you to select a few abilities to use at a time, so each player will need to take a more tactical approach to combat.

The entire province of Cyrodiil is a warzone where the three factions battle it out pushing back and forth to capture the Imperial City. There are forts to capture along the way, and they have already come out and said that they expect two factions to team up and overthrow the third and most powerful faction.

Player who gains the most contribution can be named Emperor but it's nothing more than bragging rights for a short period of time (i.e. gives hardcore pvp people something to strive for I guess).

    Three factions are basically:

Bosmer + Altmer + Khajiit vs. Nords + Dumner + Argonians vs. Bretons + Redguards + Orcs

    Or..

Aldmeri Dominion vs. Ebonheart Pacct vs. Daggerfall Covenant.

    F YEAH DAGGERFALL.

Oh yeah, Player Characters are people who have had their souls stolen by Molag Bal.

All I am going to add is there better be a raid to kick the crap out of Mehrunes Dagon.

I am going to keep myself at extreemely cautiously optimistic on this. It will force me to assign values to each feature that would be in my version of a great MMO, then see if the game comes out in the black or the red.

I can't really judge it yet as I haven't actually played it myself, but I was actually underwhelmed when I read the same article. Nothing really stood out to me except I do like the idea of allowing players to decide boundaries and having one of them being "Emperor" if even for just a short time, voiced dialogue, public events, but then again, these aren't new concepts. I was also disappointed when they said player housing wouldn't translate well into a MMO even though there are MMOs with guild fortress and even entire towns let alone player housing. I could understand if they said they weren't releasing the game with those options, but to say it just doesn't translate well sits poorly with me. I am still interested to see how this turns out though given my experience with the IP, but it does have a lot to live up to so I do welcome any news on it.

They said that the player housing as it works in Oblivion/Skyrim wouldn't translate well into an MMO, and I agree. Whether or not they do away with the idea all together? I have no idea.

Like, come hang out on your couch and eat pizza whilst we wait for commercials about it to arrive?
One star flew against the tapestry of the night
And the Earth revolved in perfect symmetry
To a symphony of Sun, the Moon danced its final bow
As the birth of the day exploded in my eyes
