    First, I have to say that I do not trust politicians and he has yet to release any information about who his "experts" or "advisors" are and there has been some ex-members of the EDC who resigned but said that the governor was not sharing any information with them or allowing them to investigate 38 Studios. Until I see proof, it is just words.

    The same goes for the WPRI articles as they have been found incorrect multiple times reporting false information and never citing sources and sensationalizing news just like most news organizations. Just like any story, if you want to know the most amount of truth, you have to have the facts, not conjectures, rhetoric, guesses, etc. It is not unlike writing reports in school where you have to cite credible sources in order to pass.

    I am not sure what else Curt is responsible for or not and I can not say for sure that this is all his fault or Chaffe's, but all I took away from that article that Chafee didn't have his back, which is true. This doesn't mean that all fault is placed on either party's shoulders, but they both share in the fall out. Chafee, as an elected public official, should be making the best decision for his constituents in the long run, but I don't see how he is doing that. If he didn't want to give the credits or couldn't, then fine. His continued negative remarks about 38 Studios is very harmful and is counter to him trying to help them find private investors. He should be trying to make things succeed and then tell people that he helped make it succeed and not waste their money by at least offering moral support or bringing in some of his own overseers instead of saying "I was against it and we lost the money. There's nothing I can do and it is not my fault."

    @eidos - I agree.

    I think that just saying one side is completely to blame is wrong. If Curt came out honestly and said "yea we both made mistakes" and then told the entire truth would be good. He should definitely let people know that the governor kinda screwed them over, but also admit that there had been some wrong doings on 38's end. If he did that, I think people would be more receptive to his side of the story purely because he's able to admit some fault in the situation.

    Schilling subsequently reiterated his lack of interest in tax credits in a radio interview in July 2010, the same week the loan guarantee was approved. "Unbeknownst to a lot of people, we’re not looking for tax credits," he told WEEI. "Tax credits are an endgame play. ... Tax credits for us are not - they were never, ever something we were after."
    Chafee rejected accusations by Treasurer Gina Raimondo and others that his administration failed to monitor 38 Studios, saying its mandatory monthly financial reports showed nothing amiss. "We're going to see that the red flags just were not there - they were making their benchmarks," the governor said.
    Richard Licht, Chafee's director of administration, confirmed in a short interview with WPRI.com that representatives from 38 Studios met with him late last year to notify the state they would be seeking the tax credits. Licht said they did not give any indication that the firm was facing a potential cash-flow crunch.
    Hmm.. I see no red flags nor the possibility they were facing a potential cash-flow crunch.. :eyeroll:

    Bottom line I see is it would've been better for the 1 mil RI people to pony up $10 a piece to 38 studios to help them get the game finished than for this to have happened. Chafee is worthless as a Governor. He just wanted to say "See I told you I was right". Right now he's done more than just stick the RI people with the real possibility of being responsible for the loan but also what company would want to set up shop in RI now OR who the eff would now want to move there?

    Curt and the others running 38 only fault I can possibly guess is where they set up shop. How much was monthly rent? Would you have been able to find something suitable for cheaper? Who cares what it looks like on the outside compared to the inside. Once you've made it then you can "movin' on up to the east side".
