Well, this is a big day for Amalur fans! As the Reckoning Demo is unleashed upon the public, we just wanted to wish you all a happy play-through. We're looking forward to comparing war stories!

More details have emerged regarding the forthcoming demo of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. EA is offering players unique Mass Effect 3 crossover items for playing and completing the Reckoning demo. Included in these items is the exclusive Todd McFarlane-designed Reckoner Knight Armor. Additionally, playing the Mass Effect 3 demo will unlock a pair of "Omniblade Daggers" usable in Reckoning for all of your requisite stabbing. This innovative cross-promotion appears to be an attempt to capitalize on the ravenous anticipation of Mass Effect 3, and raise the profile of the new 38 Studios IP, which has recently been gaining some momentum of its own.

This includes a deeper look at some blacksmithing and sagecrafting screens that we have not seen before.

The Official XBox Magazine Youtube channel has released an exclusive video of the opening cinematics and tutorial stages of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Curt Schilling has hinted at some upcoming news regarding a possible Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning game guide, but we get our first look at its possible design and length courtesy of Amazon.com. This hard cover "Collector's Edition" guide is listed at 500 pages, and users can sign up to be notified when pre-orders may begin. A release date of 2/10/12 is listed currently.

Tranj made the following comments regarding the guide today at the official forums:

We went with Future press because of the quality of their guides. Check the Amazon reviews for Portal 2, Bayonetta, Killzone 3, etc. They make gorgeous guides that feel really good in your hands, and the quality of the content is excellent. I've never been as excited for a guide to a game I've worked on as I am for this one.

Future spent a massive amount of time on site playing the game non-stop. They've had full access to the dev team and our QA team. It's been a collaborative effort the whole way.
